WARNING: Long post! Last week Blake wore a heart monitor. On Friday morning, I received a call from Blake's doctor saying that his monitor showed he was in tachycardia 50% of the day. That's the most he has ever been in it. The new medication that he was on wasn't working. She told us that we could either put him in the hospital for 3-5 days and start him on new meds to see if they would work, or we could try doing the ablation again. She said that if it were her child, she would do the ablation again. So after discussing the options, our doctor told us that she wanted to do it on Tuesday. I was kind of surprised at how soon she wanted to do it, because last time it was scheduled 2 months in advance. We had to be at the hospital at 6:00 Tuesday morning. I really wasn't as nervous this time because we had been through it before and everything went perfect (except for the fact that it didn't work). So we handed Blake over to the anesthesiologist (who I loved) and we waited. And waited. And waited. About an hour and a half later, we received a call saying that Blake was doing great and they were just getting started on mapping the location of the abnormal pathway. And then we waited, and waited. Then John and I got nervous. Last time, we received a call about 45 minutes later and it had been an hour and a half. We decided to walk down to the cath lab where Blake was and we found someone to go check on him. When he came out, he said that everyone in there was really busy and that they would call as soon as they could. At that point, we were both a wreck. About 30 minutes later, we received a call from his doctor. She said that they hit his normal conduction pathway when they were trying to ablate the abnormal one. Luckily, they were able to restore it. She said that he was out of tachycardia for now, but she didn't think it would last, so she wanted to wait a little bit and try it again with a smaller catheter. About an hour later, we received a call from her again and she said that as soon as they put the catheter in, it started affecting his normal conduction again, so she wasn't able to try again. We went down and talked with her face to face. She said he was fine right now, but she didn't know if it would last. They wheeled Blake out while we were talking and I went upstairs with him so I could be there when he woke up. He stayed in a normal rhythm for about an hour and a half, but then he was right back in tachycardia. The doctor told us that she wouldn't even think about doing another ablation until he is 3 or 4 because his normal pathway is too close to his abnormal one and it would be too risky. So, we spent 3 long days in the hospital starting Blake on a new medication treatment. The first 2 days, we didn't see any change in his heart rate, so they increased his dose and Thursday morning, we finally saw some good numbers and they let him come home Thursday night on a monitor. We had to take him back yesterday to have his blood drawn and they will read his monitor and look at his labs and decide what to do next. As frustrating as this all was and as much as I would like him to be better and off medication, I am so grateful that something more serious didn't happen during the surgery. 3 more years of this, and hopefully it will all be over!!!

Blake's favorite place to sleep was in the wagon. We would put him in it and rock it back and forth and he was out!

Blake loves fruit, so when he woke up the nurse ordered him a fruit plate. He was in heaven!

Blake loved driving the car

And helping the nurses

He even got in trouble while we were there. I put him in his crib and went into the bathroom to change into my pajamas. It was quiet when I came out and I thought he was asleep, but this is what I found...

John had bought a bag of chocolates and they were sitting on a shelf just barely reachable from his crib and he was having a little treat while I was gone. The funniest part is, if you read his jammies, it says "Cant sleep, must eat candy"

I was so excited when his heart rate came down, so I had to send John a picture

On a more exciting note, while we were stuck at the hospital, my brother Jason and his wife Nikki, had their baby boy! He is so cute and I can't wait to hold him again. It almost makes me baby hungry...almost!

Remington Tagg Best

Bentley told everyone that the baby's name was Batman and it totally stuck. I wonder how long it will last:)
