2 Months

It's hard to believe that this little guy is 2 months old already!  He is the sweetest baby and I love him so much!  We pulled out the Bumbo yesterday and it's still a little big for him, but he thought he was pretty big stuff sitting in it.  He just smiled and talked the whole time he was in there.
I took him in for his 2 month appointment and he weighs 11.0 lbs which puts him in the 20th percentile and is 23 inches long putting him in the 15th percentile.  Those percentages made me laugh because Blake has always been in the 70-90 percentile so I'm not sure what to do with 15-20%!
Zac is so much fun to have around.  He is starting to talk a little and smiles when someone talks to him.  He is such a good little sleeper.  He goes to bed around 9:00 and doesn't wake up until about 6:45.  He loves his binky and screams when you take his bottle away to burp him!  I'm loving this stage and wish I could freeze it for a while!

Brothers

For the first week or so after we brought Zac home from the hospital, Blake didn't even acknowledge that he existed.  I was a little concerned at first.  I though he would want to hold him and ask questions about him, but he kind of just ignored him for a few days.  I came out of the shower one day and found this:
Blake jumped into the crib with Zac (which normally I would not be too happy about) and was talking to his brother.  It was so innocent and so sweet.
A few days ago, I walked into Zac's room and found Blake reading to him while he was in the swing.  I hope these two will always be good little buddies!

Rodeo!

The 4th of July weekend wouldn't be complete without the Oakley Rodeo!

Cousins

John's niece, McKenna, and I used to joke about having our kids together before we were mommies.  When we found out we were pregnant with Blake, Lance and McKenna announced that they were pregnant too and we actually had the exact same due date initially.  We were so excited to be pregnant together and then when we found out we were both having boys, we talked about how much fun they were going to have growing up together.  Well, Jace was born almost a month after Blake and it has been so much fun having them grow up together!

Blake (1 month) and Jace (a couple days old)

Well, you can imagine how surprised and excited we were when we found out that once again, McKenna and I were going to have babies just a few weeks apart.  Hopefully these two will be good buddies too:)

We took the boys fishing a couple weeks ago.  They both loved playing in the water and throwing rocks.  They were soaking wet and so dirty...such boys!

So excited for many more adventures with the Rees family!

4th of July

We followed tradition and spent our 4th of July in Huntsville enjoying the parade.  This is John's favorite activity of the whole year;)

Little Zac enjoying his very first parade

We went to Jason's house that night for fireworks.

Baby Zac

We are so in love with this new addition to our family.  He is the sweetest little baby and we are so glad he's ours!

Zac has a bunch of dark hair, but not quite as much as his big brother had.

It took Blake a few days to warm up to his little brother...he wasn't interested in holding him or really even acknowledging that he was in our home. Now, Blake can't get enough of him and runs when he cries to see what's wrong and sneaks into his crib to look at "Baby Squeakers." Zac rarely cries, but he sure squeaks a lot, which earned him his nickname.

Day Out with Thomas

Those of you who know Blake, know that he loves trains, especially Thomas the Train.  When I saw that Thomas was coming to Heber Valley Railroad over Memorial Day weekend, I knew we had to go!  My family thought I was crazy because our baby was due that weekend, but I knew how excited Blake would be to see Thomas, so I bought tickets and figured we would work around a new baby.
Blake and Bostyn loved riding on the train

The train ride itself was kind of lame, but Blake absolutely loved it, which made it totally worth it!

Zac Hospital Pics

As much as I hate to see pictures of myself 9 months pregnant, I had to include this for documentation purposes only.  Here I am at 7:00 am getting ready to head to the hospital.  I was hoping to have an exciting water breaking, going into labor in the middle of the night story, but this babe was in no hurry to get here, so after waiting for several weeks of contractions every 6-10 minutes lasting several hours and then vanishing, and doctors telling me I was going to go into labor any minute and then nothing happening, I decided to be induced.  They called around 6:30 am Sunday morning and told us to be to the hospital by 7:15.  Aunt Jeana came over to our house to watch Blake and John and I headed to the hospital, so excited to meet our new little guy!

We still hadn't decided on a name, so while we were waiting for the grand arrival, John looked up baby names on his kindle and we added MORE names to our long list!

Happy Mommy after getting an epidural.  My epidural with Blake was way too strong, so this time the anesthesiologist got it just right so I wasn't numb up to my shoulders!

All ready for baby!
Baby Boy Brown was born at 1:46 pm
Big Brother Blake came in just a few minutes later to meet his new brother
(He was clueless as to what was going on and had absolutely no interest in the baby)
7 lbs 9 oz  21 inches long
We were so excited to hold and love our little guy, but he was really struggling to breathe, so the nurses took him to the crib and called the NICU team to come assess him

Before we knew it, he was being transfered to the ICU for more monitoring and some testing

Thankfully, all of the tests came back normal, but he still wasn't transitioning with his breathing like he should have and was grunting really loud, so they decided to admit him to the ICU.  His blood sugar was a little low, so they started an IV and gave him some glucose.  Since he was working so hard to breathe, they didn't want me to feed him because that could stress him even more.  Around 4am, he started breathing normally, on his own.  The nurse called me around 7:15 and said we had a very hungry baby and that he was ready to eat.  I hurried and got dressed and was so excited to feed my baby for the first time.  He latched right on and ate for about 30 min.  That was the good news, the bad news was that since he had been on an IV, they had to wean him off of it before he could leave the ICU, so each time he would eat, they would check his blood sugar and make sure it was high enough and then lower the IV fluid.  Around 5:00 pm, he was released from the NICU and we got to take him upstairs with us!

Getting checked into the WELL baby nursery:)
Finally, we could have visitors...Proud grandpa

Aunt Jeana
We got to take him home the next day, the only problem was we still hadn't decided on a name.  John really wanted to name him Jordan and I really thought he looked like a Zachary, so after going back and forth for several hours, we finally decided...
Zachary Trey Brown
We love this boy!!!
