What happens in Vegas...

Okay, nothing too crazy happens in Vegas when we're visiting, but we did have a lot of fun! John and I decided to use my birthday as an excuse to get out of town last week. Why Vegas???

John's sister Susan has been touring with John Rich from Big and Rich and she was going to be in Vegas performing on my birthday, so we took advantage of the situation and headed south. We flew down on Wednesday night and went to dinner with John's parents who were also in town for the concert. John and his dad were way out numbered by the girls, so we spent the majority of the day shopping on Thursday. Sharyn, Susan, Julie and I had a great time shopping and John and Brent did a great job following us around!

Thursday night was the big concert. The show opened with "Cowboy Troy" who is a black country rapper (sounds like an oxymoron!) Next, John Rich came out and gave a great performance. Then, the real reason for the trip...John Rich introduced Susan and Danelle and their band "Jane Deere." They were able to perform their song "Holiday" for the crowd. It was so fun to see them perform in front of such a big audience along with other great country music stars. After that, Sebastian Bach from the band Skid Row (also winner of CMT's "Gone Country") performed. It was a great concert and an exciting night...

...And the excitement continued after the concert when Sue took us backstage to meet John Rich and Sebastian Bach. They were such nice people and they had great things to say about Susan.

Susan has been playing the fiddle (and many other instruments) since she was 4 years old and she has worked so hard to get to where she is today. Susan and Danelle will begin recording their album in January and hopefully they will have it out some time this summer. I'll keep you posted! We are so proud of you Sister Sue! Thanks for an exciting weekend!!!

Breakfast with Santa

Last week we went to breakfast with Santa at Thanksgiving point. They had every Christmas character imaginable...Santa, Mrs. Claus, The Little Gingerbread boy, The Grinch, The Sugar Plumb Fairy, elves...yep, they were all there! Most kids were scared of the Grinch, but not Kensie, she absolutely loved him! The kids got to have their faces painted, played games with the elves and made some crafts. John will disagree, but I think this needs to become a new Christmas tradition!!!

Ouch!

Kensie had her first trip to the emergency room this week. She was playing on the monkey bars at school and fell off and broke her arm (isn't there a song that goes something like that!?!) They had to put her to sleep to get the bones back in place, but as soon as she woke up, she was a totally different, much happier Kensie! We're hoping that everything stays put, otherwise she will have to have surgery to stablize the bones next week. She was such a trooper through the whole ordeal. She is one tough kid! I will warn you, the last picture is a bit graphic, so skip past it if you get queasy!

The girls had a Halloween parade at their school. It was fun to see all of the kids in their cute costumes. After the parade, the kids had parties in their classrooms. I'm the room mom for Kensie's class so we got to plan a fun party for the kids. It was so fun to be at school on Halloween with all of the very excited kids!
